Default Good Ole Campfire Cooking

I took this shot the other day while we were fixing up some dinner on a camping trip. I like the lighting, but I feel something is off... Any thoughts on how to improve the shot would be great.

i love the shot. i used to camp all the time when i was younger so i can definitely feel the mood.
the only suggestion i would have had would be to get the entire flame in (looks a bit cut off on the right hand side) and maybe not so close of a crop on the left hand side. Obviously it can be a challenge to get a fast moving flame in sharp focus, but i think you did great with what you had.

The ole coffee pot if forgotten as he is a little dark and lacking in shadow detail (almost there but not quite), possibly overshadowed by the intensity of the fire. Nice concept though, as I haven't seen one like this in a while.

Mdwsta4,
I wish I had taken that with a wider crop, but I was avoiding other feet that would have been in the way. I see what you mean though, the crop is a bit tight.

Clockdoc,
I tried to bring some of that shadow detail back in this attempt. Do you think it is any better?

Good Ole Campfire with more teapot

Both, thanks for the help.

Default Shuuter speed

Oh yes. I like the second one better. I did the same last weekend and sat in front of a fire and took gobs of shots. faster shutter speeds worked btter for me. Nice job

I wanna go camping! Nice shot. Agree with the comments on cropping.

Did you replace the original in your flickr account? The reason I ask is that to my eyes both images look the sme. If this is the new image, I think it is much improved over the original. Thanks for taking the time to rework the coffee pot.
