Where is this? You're right about captions, and even the mass of lost participants falls short of telling the story. Photographically, a little more room all around the signs would help relieve the cut-off look. Thanks for the reminder, amongst other lighter fare.

I think that second shot has potential to be a really interesting picture because of the reflected photographer (you, I presume). At least it shows someone paying attention to the message.

I would want to rotate the picture so that the top of the wall (the strongest horizontal) is level and probably to crop out some of the top (removing most of the over-exposed sky between the trees) and perhaps some of the bottom. A little bit of work with the curves tool could also help increase contrast a touch.
