Default Bed of Nails

After checking out this thread: Black and white magic-a little inspiration! about photographer David Fokos, I got all inspired. So i grabbed my camera, rushed outside (as the sun was setting) and headed for some deserted scenes just a couple of block from home. I was trying to get some snaps of a railway line (while i'll post later when i've finished editing) and a wooden bridge. This shot i'v got here is of the underside of the bridge, which i then flipped upside down. I quite like it because, well, it just looks strange!

Um so I just really hurt my neck by doing a 180 and trying to see what it looked like originally. Ow.

I'm quite liking it. Although I think I would like it more if it was more horizontal instead of slanted. And it looks a little grainy.

Other than that, real nice!

I would say the graininess (is that a word?) unfortunately softens the shot where I think it would benefit from a sharper appearance. Nice idea though, keep looking for the out of the ordinary angles.

Yeah the grainyness was a problem that i couldn't get around. I tried the "despeckle" option in the Gimp, but i think that this just softened it. I'll also try a bit of straightening on this image too as, when i look at it now, i can see that its just a little crooked. I think i might also try this shot in better light. The sun had just set and it was getting really dark under that bridge which meant i had to open the shutter for a long time, thus increasing the graininess even at the low setting of ISO 100. I'll try that shot again, perhaps in better light, with my (maybe, hopefully, if i'm lucky) new dSLR in two weeks time.

Interesting experiment. Agree on the grain issue. I would like to see your future shots of the bridge in better light. But, graphically this is excellent.

Why thankyou purplepixie! I'll try and get out there tomorrow in the day time and see what the lightings like. I have a feeling that the contrast between the light on the wood under the bridge and the light on the ground will be too great. But thats just a feeling and i won't know unless i try.
