Guess the flower name??
As always I took photos of flowers which name I do not know. This flower was taken in a Ecologic Park in my city (Monterrey, Mexico). What do you think of the shoot? All c&c are welcome as always.

Looks like a species of thistle. Nice depth of field and background. Good sharpness. Your particular flower accentuates the 'menacing' quality these flowers have...spikey, threatening...but with a hint of beauty in the purple head. Unfortunately they are often invasive.
 My husband calls them "Sauron" flowers, after the evil character in Lord of the Rings, because some species really are evil-looking.   Nice catch!

it is a nice photo, to be exact I'm 90% sure it is a Milk Thistle indigenous the Mediterranean regions of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East brought over and grows thru out USA, Mexico and Canada
and is used to help with Liver ailments ...

Having a dead head as well as the blooming purple one accentuates the menacing character of the plant. Good shot.

Thanks for your comments. I'm glad all of you liked the photo.
As you said NaturesPixel, it is a Milk Thistle indigenous or family of it. I searched it and in spanish is called Silybum marianum (Cardo Mariano) .
