I joined today. I've been lurking in the forum all day, and I thought I might as well jump in with both feet.
This one is my oldest son. I photoshopped it a little, mostly just color and loss of focus. I'll add the original when I get home from work. Here's a hi-res version. |

You've done a great job on the focus, even it was post-processed! If you apply the rule of thirds here (with the important points being 1/3 and 2/3 of the way across the image horizontally or vertically) it could be even better. Panning a bit to the right and zooming out to make your son centered would certainly make this a bit of a more dramatic shot. You may not have had time though, it looks like he's walking pretty quickly! The colors of the (I assume) metal supports on the bridge came out nicely as well.

A few things:
1. You needen't use the golden mean or anything all the time, keeping him centered works best here, actually, but, it would help the shot greatly for the frame to be even on both sides. By this, I mean, center yourself on the bridge, so that you have equal amounts of the railing on both sides. 2. Small thing, but on his right side, there are some blown highlights, perhaps a larger aperture would help. 3. What color processing did you do?
