Default Virginia Farm Scene

I haven't been on DPSF for a while. I used a new (for me) color enhancing technique here. I like how the clouds follow the contour of the ridge.

marc_714,

Welcome back. These are rich colors, nice contrast with the red barn. Clouds are interesting, and rely on wide sweep to be effective, so crop makes sense. It does leave things tiny, so clouds have to carry the photo.

If you level horizon (roof of barn especially) it will cease being a distraction, as would partial foliage lower right. Overall, good photo.

marc_714, it is neat how the clouds follow the horizon! Nice sweeping farm scene. Being from rural Wisconsin, I can feel right at home here. Nice colors overall (*see note below) and good contrast.

A couple of suggestions:
-*I do like the colors, but I have to be honest about the sky...perhaps it's my monitor but the first thing that struck me about your photo was the blue...it's almost too blue...too turquoise...perhaps you could tone it back a pinch?
-Your horizontal crop is good, but your vertical crop unfortunately cuts the photo in half: sky/landscape. I would crop down some sky on the top to achieve a better 'rule of thirds' composition.

That said, overall nice job and thanks for sharing!

I also like the way your clouds mirror the rolling of the hills.

Like Teewinot though, I think you pushed a bit too hard on the sky. The blue is definitely shading into turquoise, and I think I see some posterization in the clouds (though it could be compression/resizing).
