Default Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Cacatua galerita

My wife and I just settled into our room when this Cockatoo dropped into our backyard...

Your comments are very much appreciated.

Thanks,
TC

Nice grab shot of the cockatoo. This white feathers against the dark background can be an exposure nightmare. If you have something like Photoshop you may want to try cloning the support wire off the bird. Looks like he was in a shaded spot which affected the quality and quantity of light falling on him.

Whilst nothing can be done about it now-if this shot (or somehitng similar) arises again, if possible try and get a little higher so that more of the birds body is visible (ie not obscured by the tray thing). Apart from that this picture seems good

Lee,
Thanks for the feedback. It wasn't an easy shot. It was taken through a window in the late afternoon.

I'm currently using CS2 for post processing, but I'm not familiar with the cloning technique that you suggested. I'll look into it...thanks.

Steve,
Thanks for the feedback. I agree, the feeder is a little distracting. It wasn't easy getting this shot. It was taken through a window...

By the way, this shot was taken in Daylesford, Victoria, last month. My wife is from Adelaide so we travel to Australia frequently.

Todd

great shot. Just the fact that you can get shots of cockatoos from your room impress me. I owned an umbrella for many years and have a soft spot for cockatoos. I think they always seem to photograph well.
