![]() Ok I'm learning here. I took a picture of fireworks that I took and mirrored it. I should have cropped it a tad opn the right but then it cut out too much of the fireworks. Then i took a picture of a lake and put the fireworks picture behind it. Then I picked only the fireworks section and copied it and flipped it on to the water area and then bandaided sections in to cover the seams. I've never done anything like this so please feel free to tell me what you think or how to do it better

I think with a crop it would be frame worthy....really nice job.
The photo of the lake and particularly the land around it is real clear the only problem I have is the offset of the top and bottom halves. Straighten that up and crop the right like you mentioned and I would say its a great photo almost abstract...

Very cool! In fact I didn't notice it was manipulated until I read your explanation. Nice job! I believe a "Before and After" is in order...
![]() Just as xxpinballxx pointed out, when I look closely I do notice the offset reflections in some spots...also as you said the photo could be cropped on the right to really achieve a true all-around symmetrical/mirror look. Overall, nice one and thanks for sharing!

Nice work on the reflection. Have you thought about applying a bit of blur on the bottom half to just take off the mirror-edge reflection? However, it looks good as is. I agree with the others regarding the cropping.

Thank you so much. I love fireworks that are shot over water and not having anyplace nearby that would do such a thing I decided to make my own. It was all by trial and error and am really glad you liked it.

After i read the post on taking pictures of fireworks, i bought the shutter release cable, and went out. Besides the fact that i don't really spend a lot of time with my camera, i had two other things going against me. First, the wind was blowing towards me, so a lot of the shots were blurred by the smoke. It was also drizzling, so i go some raindrops on my lens, which screwed things up. But, here are some of the pictures that i managed to get with my D70s. All the pictures link back to flickr, where you can see the fill EXIF info.
![]() I am going to try to find some more fireworks in the area later this summer just to practice some more. |
