Good shot, I like the colors and the slight tinge of green in the center. Lighting gives good detail and casts interesting shadows. Depth of field is nice, the edges blur nicely, but there's still a good amount of sharpness in the center of the flower. What lens did you use? EXIF shows D40 @ 50mm, were you using the 50mm f/1.8?

I can feel the light radiating off it!
I think this is one of those cases where cutting off part of the subject is okay. You get enough of the petals on the sides to see that it's a sunflower, and the uhm.. flower parts in the middle are big enough to be the main subject that you don't miss the top and bottom.

The detail on the flower is great! The color of the background does not show off the color of the flower as much as other colors would, but it is still a beautiful shot. Consider sharing your sunflower shots with other sunflower lovers by opening a gallery at http://www.SunflowerOcity.com

Nice shot! Not put off at all at the cut off petals on the flower. Great detail and nice lighting. Good Job!
