Default Moon

First well captured shots of this type with my P&S. Taking shots like these just makes me want to run to the store and get a DSLR with a long zoom lens to take closer shots.

That's not too bad with a P&S. My personal preference is to include some landscape so they you can make some reference on size. But then you could be limited by how far you can zoom.... quite a difficult choice.

Taking good shots of the moon can be tricky. You have done well with your point and shoot camera. These also make good stock photos for adding to a composite image when there is no moon or it just isn't in the right place. Things have changed with digital photography. Many years ago Kodak featured a project called "Moons in the Refrigerator." The idea was to mark your 35mm film at loading so that after shooting a whole roll of moons, you could reload the camera so that the later senic double exposure would have the moon in the proper position. You had to remember to place the moon, say, in the upper right hand corner in the horizontal format, when shooting the original. Then if you later shot a vertical shot of a scene, the moon woul now be in the upper left corner. The link to the refrigerator was to remind you to store the pre-exposed moons in the refrigerator until the next exposures were made. Like I said earlier, digital has made all this unnecessary. 8-)

I got confused at the loading part but it seems like it's hard to do unless your experianced in that field. Thank you for the comments

Let me see if I can clarify what I was trying to say earlier. 8-) When you load your 35mm film camera, Kodak suggested making a mark on the film tab backing to coincide with a mark on the camera body such that you could align the film when reloaded after shooting a roll of moon shots. To do it properly, you would have to cock the shutter lever and advance the film a couple of frames to ensure you didn't start loading in the middle of a frame advance. Then mark it. If this wasn't done then there is no telling where the mons would end up. 8-)
Sorry for the confusing text as I cannot remember their exact description of the loading process. I can visualize their photo of the film being loaded and a mark on the film as well as the inside body of the camera. But I doubt that many would go to that trouble today with the eease of shooting digitally and using software to import a moon if needed.

Ok i know what you mean now, but yea it's so much easier with photoshop and digital cameras now these days. Makes me wonder what will come out next in the years to come.
