Default Orange Lily

I bought extension tubes to experiment with macro photos. At first glance I like this one, but wondering if it could have been captured better. Should I have centered it more (although I kind of like how it goes up the edge)? Advice please

tonetta33,

Maybe a Naturalist would prefer more of the flower, but for interestingness, this has a good look to it. Beautiful colors; if more of right side showed, composition would be better. Cloning out top left green spot would remove a distraction.

This is a unique perspective of the lilly. Perhaps it would be stronger if the image wasn't as tightly cropped yet with the same general proportions and placement.

I took a similar image... I love the closeness and the unique perspective, however I agree.. pull back some. Same beautiful lines, just less cropped.

I really like the unique composition. You're showing me a view of a lily I've never seen before. Kudos for your creativity. It is cropped very tight. Perhaps showing a bit more on the right would balance the composition somewhat, but who says it absolutely needs to be balanced? It feels a bit more edgy your way.

Although the bit of green is a wee bit distracting, the photograph is magnificent, i must say...the angle and the new view of the flower is abstract and one that not many would think of...it's not something you can sit down and think about, it's more of a spur-of-the-moment and "i wonder..." kind of composition...and it came out beautifully...bravo!
