the overall emotions and expressions in the pic are nice...
but i think since you have used the flash it has the face very bright... try in a brighter light without flash if possible...

Josh is a great little subject and will provide countless hours of photo opportunities for you. This is a good capture of his expression, animation and emotion. However onboard flash tends to flatten facial features and minimizes modeling of these features. For starters, try placing him farther from the wall to reduce shadow size and intensity. You probably need flash to capture his action but I think you will be better served by using a flash off the camera, if that is possible, or using other forms of lighting. Keep shooting! I look forward to seeing more of your work and will be happy to help where I can.

Could you tell us what settings were on your camera? Auto? Portrait? What camera you used?
