While it may not be the most flattering shot of you because of the harsh flash illumnation, I think you handled the technical details nicely. The line where the shadow ends and the illuminated part of your face begins is well placed. Can you share a little more about how you produced this shot?

thingy,
Of course I'd have to like a shot like this! If you were fuschia and had a stem growing out of your ear, it would be perfect! And as a portrait it has great drama, is well-produced, and would make a distinct avatar. I'd call it "Essence of Thingy." Or is that unsavoury?

Very nice. I am curious about the details as well.

Thanks for the comments so far.
Details: 1/60sec at f/11 ; ISO100 ; Nifty Fifty (Manual focus using the distance setting) ; Off camera flash at 1/32 power, setup on another tripod to my side. All the lights off (thus the manual focus). I tried several different angles as the standard half face looking straight at the camera has been done so much. With this one, I wanted to see if it worked with just a narrow slither of my face. G |

not sure what others think, but personally, i prefer the colour version, it seems to jump out at me more. But then again, thats proably just me, and quite possibly not the intended effect
