Alright, this is the last photo I'll put up here, that I took before I stumbled upon this blog/forum, and before I really started to think about what/how I'm shooting. In comparison to my last post, found here, I think I actually have a subject now, and it's not just a random landscape shot.

In post-processing I changed the saturation just a bit, and straightened the "horizon", the beachline in the distance. I'm still working on getting this right when I take the shot

Any suggestions? Comments? Thanks everyone!

I am not a composition whiz, so I will let others help you there.

Soffia Gisladottir is a photographer (flickr site here) who does fabulous things with colours like the ones in this photo -- look at her Beautiful BC collection, for example. If you are looking for ideas for post-processing you could do worse than to look over her stuff.

hora,

If it came to a choice between having more reflection in water, or losing an average sky, which would you want? It might mean horizon (which is higher on right) would go to top one-third, but that reflection holds a lot of interest.

When you have your finger on shutter release, move to line up horizon with bottom or top edge of viewfinder frame, or a vertical edge if no horizon. Reframe and shoot.

Nice work! I agree with Jiminy's suggestion regarding the reflection versus the sky.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your responses! ELAY, thanks for the link, I will check it out when I get home from work.

jiminyClickit and clockdoc: Thanks for the tip! Next time I'm out shooting, I'll try it out, and I'll practice framing my shots better.
I also see what you mean about the reflection vs the mediocre sky, next time, I'll know what to look for in a shot.
