Default Flowers

I know there's not much to critique when it comes to a flower macro, but if anyone has any suggestions/ways to improve, please comment on my shot. My aim for this one was to capture the contrast in colours between the pink of the flower and the bluish-green of the background.

And you accomplished your aim. I'm just not sure about cutting off the ends of the petals. I can't decide whether I like that part or not.

Well, you've definately suceeded at captureing the contrast between the blues and the reds. To improve this shot i'd just make sure i got the whole flower in the frame, in this one you've just clipped the tops and bottoms off the flower....ummmm....petals

EDIT: Ahhhh, you just beat me Mike!

Since the purpose is to contrast the colors, the shape of the flower isn't that important. So I would crop out the left side of the photo (the right side has a cleaner background) to emphasize what you're contrasting, rather than making the focus on the flower.

I love how the colors pop, the blue background -- I can't tell if I love it or hate it.

I would try a bit of creative cropping on this, but other than that, great work!

Pop! is exactly the word that comes to mind. Its a great capture of beautiful flower. The background is of course unusual with the receeding blue really pushing out those pinky reds. Its a shot that I initially like to look at, but after a few seconds the blue starts to burn into the back of my head (not that bad really but a bit intense). As suggested, its begging for a bit of creative cropping!
