Default HDR Sunflowers

This is my first attempt at an HDR. I haven't bought the license for photomatix, so there is a watermark on the photo. I wanted to try it out a bit before purchasing.

This was taken in the evening in my backyard. The house was shadowing the yard past the wall.

Thanks for your critiques!

kkathy,

Whether or not it fits the general look of HDR, it's a pleasant shot of hominess, and even though next yard over is competing for attention, the sunflowers bring me back. The blue, is that a figurine or a bloom? It really stands out against the green.

Not really what i'd call a prime target for HDR, as the processing has made it look like this was taken closer to the middle of the day. But i agree with jiminy that the sunflowers do create a homely sort of feel

Yeah I agree that it was not a prime subject. Thanks for the comments
I'm still not sure about this HDR thing. I guess I need to spend some more time reading about it.

Jiminy that blue item is one of the terra cotta warrior statues that is scattered about my backyard. They of course aren't a terra cotta color, but I can't afford to get the real thing shipped over from China

I like the colours, although I wonder if it looked better without HDR? The blue statue in the bush on the left is a little distracting too, I was wondering what it was.

I also didn't know sunflowers could grow that big! I thought they were more yellow and black than green.

kkathy, and hora

Found this guy again from months' back. His Picasa site has terrific sunflowers, many still green, Macros and others. Good slideshow
