Too much area for too little subject. I'm sorry, but my taste says you needed to have much more lens on the fisherman, preferably at a lower angle. My comment is based on my belief that you are trying to produce more than a snapshot - which this is, IMO.

I see quite a few similarities in our eye and tastes, so feel free to email me if you find my comments either useful or not helpful

rlarsen,

In the thumbnail, your composition shows really well. That part's working for you. The skies have good interest and color. Maybe picking fewer subjects for each photo would encourage your eyes to see as a stranger would, looking at your shot for the first time, wanting to know what your reason was for preserving the moment. Fewer subjects, closer. What you have presented is what I grew up seeing, broad landscapes, middle of the day, anonymous vacationers. Nothing wrong with that. But it has a limited audience today. Keep shooting, and enjoying the beautiful views.

In my opinion much better shot than the other one, but the two boats kind of tear me apart, my eyes can't decide where to focus. I would like both pictures that would come out if you cut that one in half . Like said before me - fewer subjects, closer.
