Lothegan,

Much more human, personal, a portrait in the best sense of the word ("showing the face"). Very feminine, touching the hair. Maybe a little unsharp in eye area, but that could be on this end of viewing. Good, better work.

I like this better than the last one, too. Lighting is nice and her eyes are a nice focal point.
Not to speak for someone else, but I believe he means the eyes could use a little sharpening so they were in better, clearer focus

Lothegan,

That is because you show good work. Thank your models. They helped, too!

Yeah, the lighting is an improvement on the previous shot (unless as was mentioned, you wanted the high contrast). I can't help feel that you may have gone a little too far in the opposite direction though. I think this shot lacks a little contrast and definition. For example the line of the jaw almost fades into the neck. I see your subject is backlit, did you use a reflector to fill in the face?

Okay, how long was this exposure for? I am guessing slightly longer was required to expose your girlfriends face and so this is how the backlight on her hair and shoulders is somewhat blown out and if handheld would also explain the focus issue mentioned earlier. I would recommend experimenting with a reflector to fill the face. This gives a nice quality of light (especially the white rather than silver reflector). As the exposure required for the now brighter face is shorter, the brightness of the backlight will come down and you can get a sharper handheld image.
