Default Purple flower.

Was out macro-ing with my P&S. Anyone know what flower this is? Kinda looks like a rose but it isn't... is it?
As always, don't hold back.

Purple Flowers

Have you tried a tighter crop around the flowers, as the flourescent green leaves are a touch distracting for me. As for the name of the flowers the best i can do is to call them "purple" flowers
(hows that for a quick reply?)

Ribkaje - that's a lovely picture of "Impatiens balsamina" - commonly known as balsam in this neck of the woods!!

Penny,

Thanks for the kind words and the info. I've never been good at telling one flower apart from the other.

ribkaje,

That's a purple flower, for sure. Would be curious to see what you get if you wait till about 30 minutes before sunset (if flower is still lit by sun), and face bloom towards sun. That light may give a less contrasted look, with detail still natural. Or very early in the morning. Just curious.

You know what? I think I'll head back there later in the evening and try to get a photo as you suggested. Wish me luck!

ribkaje,

You have everything you need, and I'll wish you some extra luck with no breezes until you're finished.

There was barely any sun today. It was all cloudy and windy.
And when I got to the park, I couldn't locate the pair I had shot yesterday for some reason.
Anyway I thought I'd make do with what I had. Apart from cropping and using the 'Curves' tool a tiny bit, this one's straight out of the camera.

What do you think jiminy?
