I'm a bit out of my league saying this, but, i think it lacks balance. There is the big black tower on the right side, but nothing for our eyes to settle upon on the left side. IMHO

Hmmm, I agree, but what would you suggest? A person? or maybe something Bigger? When I took it I thought I was being cool trying the rule of thirds ha.

That's a very intriguing shot. The simplicity makes it pretty nice looking.
One of the rules of silhouettes (as I've learned) is that the silhouettes have to be something recognizable and coherent. I'm not sure if Engel tower is a local thing, to me it is just a plain building. Another thing that I want to comment on is the "converging lines" you get with the building. You may want to consider straightening it out. Overall though, I think it's a great handheld shot. |

I like this shot, I feel the light tone of the bluish sky balances the dark mass of the sillouette while the converging vertical leaning into the composition adds the sense of height to the tower.
One suggestion might have been to add a new moon somewhere in the upper third of the left hand blue space, but if you're not into composites that's fine. Thanks for this sharing this shot. Darryl |
