Default Long Exposure

I took this when I was sitting bored in my dorm room. I saw a box of thumbtack and thought they might look interesting. I took it with a Canon Digital Rebel XT.

I think the pict is too many burn, may be the colors can show better with more shutter speed, the yellow wood turns confuse with the white background. Difficult to see.

Nice Idea. Creative. Lacking in execution. I'd suggest trying again with different exposures and white balance against a more neutral or invisible background.

too long of an exposure, or too much light. the tacks are blown out (especially the lighter colored ones).
i'd suggest going back and reshooting.

I think you had an interesting and colorful idea. I agree that they do seem blown out though. Do you know what your exif info is? Did you have it under a bright light, like a desk lamp? This may have contributed to the too washed out look. Try reshooting under different camera settings as Matt suggested.

Nice Idea! I like the fact that the background is blown out, it gives a sense that the tacks are going off into infinity. However, in blowing out the background, the tacks are also over exposed which i don;t really like. My suggestion, if you decide to retake, try and illuminate the background more than the foreground so that you can acheive the best of both worlds. (Hmm, easier said than done )

What can be done with this shot? I think if much the bottom was cropped out it would give better composition, plus a little bit of sharpening wouldn't go astray as the image is a little soft.

Hey, just realised this is your first post! Welcome! I certainly hope you find these forums as useful as i have (which is a lot.......or very.......or much......or whatever the word is to say that I love these forums because they are so helpful)
