This is an interesting subject, but I think you are taking a snapshot and not putting a great deal of thought into composition. Try getting an unusual angle or close-up shot. This can be difficult if you are in a museum area that may rope off subjects, so sometimes zooming in or crouching down might help.

I'll have to agree that this is a snapshot. Since it is a static subject, a still life, you need to play more with texture, color, lighting, etc.

Yeah, maybe you could move in closer to show only a portion of the loom, maybe a part with an interesting pattern or something.
