Default Texas Time

In my little town, there's an old clock near a train station/museum. It sits, unfortunately, right near the intersection of a major road, so it's difficult to get a shot without LOTS of background ick. So I took a number of shots from different angles (one from atop a bench), and ended up with a couple that were decent. And then I layered them.

Never done anything like this before. What do you think? Does it work? Or no...

I like it, it doesn't seem overdone. It seems kind of like something you'd see as a poster or a tourist brochure, but that's ok. I think it turned out really well.

Dazyl, Senior

You have mastered your tools and used them to create a solution to a problem others might have considered passing over. Are you feeling the joy?

(Also nostalgic, 30 years around Houston)

Thanks, y'all, for giving me your reactions. I was (and maybe still am) on the fence with it, but that could be because once one starts messing about a lot in photoshop, it's easy to just keep tweaking. The possibilities are endless...

Jiminy, that "Senior" in your comment gave me a jolt for a minute. Hadn't noticed the passing of the milestone. Fun!! Still as much learning curve ahead of me as behind.... I am getting better, though. Yup. Guess I'm feeling the joy at that!

Nicole -- maybe I should approach the city and see if they want to buy it, eh? Cuz I agree with you that it's pretty brochure-ish. Massive resolution, too, so maybe they'd like to use it for a billboard campaign! LOL!

Ha! Heckuva side note, Michelle. Talk about a small world... cuz this really isn't the biggest town around. Fun!

I like this shot too. Great idea with the extra layer over the clouds. I would possibly recommend either cropping in from the top right or repositioning the extra layer further to the right. Both with the purpose of eliminating the clock edges on the right which tend to lead the eye out of the shot.
