bigdoggold,

If the main lighting comes from over your left shoulder, then that shadow on Jax's nose is you. Depending on what this photo will be used for, it's either part of the charm or an unfortunate darkening. Background also, either it's part of location information, or really distracting. Angle, too, if the eye is the most important part of photo, imagine what two of them would do for it. The slight distortion making nose seem bigger can be cute, or not as effective as one from slightly above or more profile.

Jax looks like a great friend no matter what, so just consider these observations on a photo.

The image looks a bit out of focus, but that might be a side effect of the dog's fuzziness.

Something about the angle, the way the dog is sitting, and that carpet to his right makes him seem a bit contorted to me. He looks like a sweet dog, though.
