Default Foxglove

Not sure about the focas on this. I was trying macro and the wind was blowing. But I was happy with the dof.

Focus looks pretty good under those conditions, just a little soft. The shallow dof is very nice. I like the position of the foxglove to the side, but not so much the way the bottom of the flowers is cut off. I love digitalis. I used to tell my children the garden fairies used them as hats at night during their parties.
How do you like the Canon 24-105?

Thanks for that suggestion. I was trying to get the water drops and those seemed to have the best drops. I didn't think of cutting the flower off. So many things to think of. I love, love, love that lens. I almost haven't taken it off since I got it. Now I'm hooked on "L" and want another!

Default Great Photo!

Nice job you got there. I love the flower. It's pretty nice and I had never seen it before, so thanks for sharing. I even looked it at wikipedia hehehe. As Saralonde said, the only thing could be to try no to get the flower cut off, but as I learn in my research at foxglove article I could see it’s a large plant with a lot of flowers so trying to get the water drops sharp and focus can be a really difficult job, but you achieved it.
Great work!

prrs4me,

And if you go Portrait, you can include more blooms. Cutting off below a full individual "fairy hat" would be better. Very nice subtle color.

Default Is this better?

Thanks for the suggestions. Is this better? No water drops but a bug instead.

Default Nice shot again!

Ohh those bugs, or is it a fly? I really like both shots. The thing I liked and I don’t perceive in your second shot it's the subtility of the foxglove but this one it's more of a macro type. Another thing is that my eyes go from one bloom to the other, don’t know if that is good or you should crop it. I bet Saralonde or jiminyClickit can give you a better review on that.
Definitely is one of the cutest flowers I ever seen. Thanks for sharing it.

prrs4me,

It's more detailed, gives a portrait completeness to one bloom, so I believe that's successful. If you were to back away some, you could get a "family" shot of all the blooms of one stem. It's a question of what you like. Photographically that's a beautiful shot.

I don't know about the technical aspects, but your original post is a very pretty picture. It has excellent detail and nice colors. Good work.
