Default Rain delay delay

Two notes on this shot.

First, my wife bought me Understanding Exposure for Father's Day, so as I was at the baseball diamond today, I was practicing manual exposures on the various things around me (slightly impairing my coaching focus).

Second, they were calling for wild weather this evening around here, and as the clouds rolled in, I kept wondering when the game would be called to avert any lightning strike victims.

This is probably the best shot I got tonight, at least to my eyes. Thoughts on anything, but especially on exposure? I exposed for the sky to the side of the bright spots (I brightened up the foreground in post).

I like it a whole lot! I also think that this one of those shots that requires that you lead the vewier. Whatever you title it will determine the response by setting the mood.

ELAY,

Just that one thing has improved most every shot I've tried since March: exposure setting based on near-to-the-lightest part of photo. It does usually mean some edit work, but rarely any blown spots. Your sky has a rich sunlit opening, pleasant to see. Composition features titular area; title causes a second thought, good exercise for our brain. Well done

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Understanding Exposure -- was reviewed on the DPS blog the other day (a coincidence, my wife doesn't know about this site, and let's keep it that way). I have really found it to be an excellent resource for somebody at my level: working knowledge of the various settings etc., needing help on how to apply them well.
