rlarsen,

Better without the glare, even though there is a little. Earlier in this day (or later) when Sun was lower in trees or more to your back, you would have that light filtering through without glare, or the trees lit in front. Still tall, just lit differently. Probably would have saved the sky too. Great spot to experiment/practice.

Many years ago when I took a trip the California redwoods, I took a few "tall" tree shots. My shots and yours suffer from the lack of something with which to scale them.

Something to use for scale could make this shot more interesting. Maybe something on the ground? And it would help if there wasn't flaring from the sun.

Cool trees!

I agree, for the most part, with what folks have said about the flare. For me, though, it would/could still be lovely with less flare rather than none.

I don't know, though, that you need anything for scale. The sense of height comes through very strongly to my eyes.

I think Jiminy's got it right: Great spot to try some interesting things!
