Default Portrait in a Fender

I went to a classic car show a week ago and was trying to step outside my 'nature' box and take creative photos of the cars. Below is one I think I like, but I'm not sure if I could have done something to make it better. My main thought is whether it works to have myself in the photo or not (I'm the one with the camera).

With regards to post processing, I cropped some to achieve a better thirds composition and I also cloned out some dust on the fender. So, what do you think?

If you ask me, the shot would have been perfect if it was only you in the fender!! But apart from that, great image!

ashwinvissa,

Thanks for you comments! It is interesting that you suggest having only me in the photo...I totally see where you are going. I guess from my perspective, those 'other' people in the shot aren't just random passerbys...they are my parents and husband! So, I guess I felt more inclined to include them. Next time I will try only me and see how it turns out! Thanks again!

Congratulations for "stepping outside the box" and trying something different. I don't mind the additional people in the image. You could go a step further and do a macro on thje chrome bolts as well. I would suggest cropping some of the black and red portions as they don't add as much in their current proportions. I look forward to more "reflections."

Ah yes, I did actually think of this during post processing when I was able to zoom in and see that there is a small reflection in the bolts too...however of course I didn't take a macro shot when I was there. Next time!

I will play around with this and see what seems best. I left in the amounts I did so the red and black parts would be mostly equal in width to the fender (rendering a nice 'rule of thirds' composition). Also, I sort of liked the addition of solid color around the subject. But, I will try what you suggest!

Thanks, again.
