Default Not A Mobile Phone : ]

This is one of my shots titled 'Telephone'

Telephone

Do you think it would look better in color? Maybe with a stronger bokeh? Does it look weird that the phone is centered?
Thanks in advance!

The bottom I think is a little to dark. Perhaps cropping off some of the bottom may help. I think it would be quite funny to have two dixie cups and some string instead.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

Thanks Murtasma! I'll try that and attach it. (yes, it would be quite hilarious to use dixie cups and string. Note to self: Buy more dixie cups and find the string.)

: D

Thanks carl yeomans for your input! Yes, weird is what I strive for : ]
Normal things worry me. And a bokeh is a background that isn't in focus, so it's slightly blurred (I think). Here is an article about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh

i like the conversion to B&W, but i agree it's too centered. especially because the cord was cut off on the right, yet there is plenty of empty space on the left.
the background is also pretty distracting and the log it's resting on is a bit on the dark side.

Thanks mdwsta4!

If i try it again I'll definitely try out your suggestions!

I've made bokehs before but I can't seem to figure out the right settings, do you know how I could blur the background?

Thanks!

You can blur the background by setting your aperture to a smaller number. I don't remember what kind of camera you're using, but you should be able to get a similar result with the portrait mode of your camera

I think it is a great photo of a phone on a log.

I like the reflections from the polycarbonate or ebony or whatever it is made of, I also like the jaunty angle at which the phone sits on the log.

I think given the subject, the phone is properly centred, and the centring adds to the sense of juxtaposition. Having the phone nestle a bit into the background works with the subject too, so the dark on the bottom and the background elements don't bother me. I would also go the opposite direction from some of the others here, and say that it would probably look good in a square crop, with a bit more above and below the phone.
