Okay, Okay, I know the title isn't that great. The only name I could come up with was, "Damn Bug"! Anyways, what do you think of this shot? I cropped it so that I would still have some of the purple coloring on the right-hand side & maintain a 5x7 aspect ratio. Should I have centered the flower? I'm a huge fan of Michael Brown's stuff. Am I even close? Here's a link in case you don't know who he is or what he does.

Nice shot Dave
Haven't seen your work posted in a while, but maybe I haven't hit the right threads.I really like the way that the background is the green and purple. And you got the "damn bug" nice and sharp. I happen to like picture this quite a bit, quite possibly because of the simplicity and everything. I can't say how close or not it is to Michael Brown's stuff, so I'll just leave that bit to someone else.

Digidave,
Background colors are a good mix. MB is one terrific influence. If you try others, see what happens if you move stem of bloom (with your foot, piece of string, whatever) so that it is leaning in opposite direction of those in b/g. Just a little (like crossing your fingers) will add interest and set your subject apart.
