Default Clouds

Pouring Down
I would have liked to do something better with the composition... any tips on how to photograph clouds? I used a polarizing filter to shoot this photograph.

If you had a wide open foreground, I think it would make the sky look pretty intense. I enjoy shooting skies with interesting clouds also. Cool shot of the clouds.

Nice capture of some interesting cloud formations. Circular or linear polarizer.?The polarization effect will differ depending on the angle of the sun. Yours worked well.

What camera did you use? Do you know if it is infrared capable? You may also want to try using the effects in Picasa2 from Google to simulate what this would have looked like if shot through a red filter (the old film technique for darkening the sky) on black and white film.

Here is a shot from my Sony F707 in Nightshot mode with an R72 IR filter just to show you the typical infrared response. Note how it also makes the grass look like snow.
