Default Splish - Splash

Digital Rebel
Canon 100-400mm L Usm IS lens
Auto Focus on
Aperture Priority
shutter 1/1000
Av 5.6
ISO 400
Focal Lenght 310mm
White balance Florescent
The location was a bird Aviary at Butterfly World in Florida. The picture was taken at a distance of about 10 to 15 feet - hand held. The white Balance setting was by accident but as luck would have it the setting seemed to shift the image toward blue which I think add a feeling of cool and wet. The purpose of the shot was to try to capture the splash in mid air. Although the image defines what I had in mind when I framed it, I must admit that luck played a big part in this shot. I would like to hear from others how they might edit in photoshop to acheive different effects or other ideas on how a picture of this type may be taken.

Hi Richard, welcome to DPS! I love your avatar, nice catch.

My bird photography is pretty limited, but I found these threads on our sister site that may help you.

I like the flying waterdrops, but I'm not sure about the blue tint. My eye is drawn to the yellow streak behind him.

Good image! I like the scale of the water coming up on the bird. I have not seen a bird shot like this yet very nice. If your shooting in RAW try to correct the white balance issue. The bird has a blue tint to it. You can also correct the colros in photoshop. Isn't the birds face white?

Thanks for the comments.
The yellow streak was unavoidable - no real time to concider composure. Looking for ways to get the yellow out.
I have mixed feeling about the blueish color. I like the overall tone of cool and wet but not how if discolors the bird.
The answers may be in PhotoShop but my knowledge of the software is lacking.
Again Thanks
