It does need to be a little sharper, and perhaps that was because of the minimum focus distance as Clockdoc says. But you did have the right idea getting in nice and close. Did you use a tripod or was it handheld? That could also effect the sharpness, as could a slight breeze moving the flower.
Last point, I think it would help to have a rose a little more in its prime. The blackened edges are distracting. It can be difficult sometimes. I was looking in my garden today and it seemed every rose I had was looking less than photogenic .
