Nice work! Did you use a reflector to fill the shadow side of the face or was there some sort of natural reflector available ? What post processing work was done? Other than the hot area on the forehead the tonal qualities are very nice for this casual portrait.

Thanks Clockdoc! It was shot on a low pier so the water was my natural reflector

Post Processing: levels, curves and a touch of lucis art (should stop, but in love with the damn software!!!)

Really good work. Your portraits are definitely taking on a specific style and its working - the sign of a true artist

kunaldaswani,

Eye-catchingly different! No distractions, sky, man, technique. A little Lucis is a good thing, makes bolder without going into illustration overload. Progress feels good, does it not?

kunaldaswani,

Just like photos, others see things from a perspective you may be too close to discover. Of course you are progressing; you work at it and learn something every time you post. That's the value of listening; even if you wanted praise, a good critique can point out change that may help you reach excellence. You listen, try things, always with a terrific attitude for learning. Of course you've progressed! Enjoy, Mr. K.

Thank you The only reason i have started calling you Mr.Jim is that i happened to go thro your profile and realized that you sir are not of my age group and someone i should address with respect. Not to say that you are old but i address all senior people that way.

kunaldaswani,

Thank you. That little cricket avatar is closer to how I see my presence here. Respect is a cultural thing, and we (USA) are sometimes not known to show it as much. I appreciate your way of seeing age as an accomplishment, and have to say it has been a bumpy ride. Here I've tried to show as much equality in respecting other members as possible, even to the point of changing my language so as not to mistake a 'her' for a 'him.' If you say "Mr. Jim" or "jC" or "hey you," I'll still appreciate you.
