I was going for kind abstract for this one. I thought about highlighting the rust colors and making the metal more contrastive, but I think this works well because this bolt has been sitting here in this same position in that same place for over 5 years. it is on the gate that closes on the driveway but we never close it. I think it makes the bolt look pale and boring. Comments? suggestions? PS I did the best I could with my makeshift macro lens with a very very small focal length.
also I was just looking at it one more time before I posted and I noticed how balanced it is. I am amazed with myself. I really like this photo. Might have to redo it when I get my XTi with macro lens and print out a poster.

Or get a tripod and take several shots, changing the focus slightly each time. You can then merge them together simulating a much greater depth of field than your camera set up can manage directly.
Overall, I think it is a good shot and might be worth revisiting with an approach like that to deal with the blurred tip that Lee picked up on. Also, although the muted colours work, it would be interesting to see a white balanced version (possibly also tweaked for higher contrast, emphasising the texture of the rust and metal against the soft background).
