nice shot! I have tried to get a shot of these two morning Doves that made a home of my wifes concrete bench in our flower bed but hey always fly away.
Was there any editing work done? I think te one blade of grass on the left sort of adds to the depth of the photo but the blurred bottom right corner distracts me. Other than that great shot! Good detail on the dove!

Nice composition, sharpness, tone and muted colors. The branch leads you into the dove and the direction the dove is facing keeps your eye within the frame.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to sneak up on a dove. They are skittish and not real cooperative as photo subjects.

The blur in the right hand corner is a blade of grass that is too close to the lens (I agree, it is a bit of a distraction). If I had taken the shot a little earlier (further away) it probably would have been a masterful example of foreground entry (hindsight 20/20). Another foot or so closer and I would have cleared the blade of grass (that is what I was trying to do) although I would have missed the shot. True to form, the dove didn't stick around for the photo op. He was gone about three seconds after this capture.

Was there any editing work done? I think I may have increased the saturation a little, but I don't remember making any huge post processing adjustments to this photo (I took this photograph a couple months ago).

Thanx for your comments.

tufcat,

Having never gotten a good fowl photo of any kind before last night, I can appreciate your quality here. And the absolute need to shoot no matter what's around the subject. You've got enough surroundings here to crop out the grass and still maintain the locale, and the proportions of original. Good light: overcast day?
