Default Red Rock canyon

Taken last summer on trip to Vegas. Opinions?

This is an unedited photo. Any suggestions on what I could/should do with it?

You've got a good composition here. I like how the photo is divided into thirds. I also really like that you included a fence. It's a great addition. Finally, I enjoy how the fence moves with the rocks. Nice job!

Suggestions:
-I feel like the colors are decent, but could use some pizazz. Perhaps you could increase the contrast/saturation?
-The sky is nicely blue, but it's a tad flat...it could use some clouds. But retaking the shot isn't really an option, is it? If you aren't opposed, you could mask in some clouds from a different shot. Just an idea.

Thanks for sharing. It looks like a beautiful area and you captured it well.

I would definitely increase the shadows...looks a little washed out to me. Hard to shoot in bright daylight.
Picasa2 is a great program to tweak the simple stuff, plus it scrubs your hard drive for any picture that was ever downloaded on your computer, and files them for you...who knows...maybe you already have some kind of Adobe program that I can't afford to do a better job!!!!!

Duh... you already use Picasa....

How about this...

looks nice but the sky does need something....
Great thinking with the fence though.

After I suggested that idea about masking in some clouds last night, I got to thinking...hmmm...I've never done such a thing so I wonder how it works. Well, I played around a little bit this morning with your shot (hope you don't mind) and added a new sky (from one of my shots), just for fun and practice. I also increased the contrast and saturation a bit. Here are my results:

Wow!! What a difference some clouds make. That looks awesome. I never really realized until I joined this site how editing can change the photos in such a positive way. Thanks!!!
BTW, the entire time I was in Vegas (about a week) I NEVER once saw a cloud!! And to think I was happy I could still see the airplane! LOL

Thanks and you're welcome! It was my first time masking in a new sky, so it's not perfect. But yes, it does make a difference doesn't it?

No clouds the whole time, huh? Wow.

I like the pic but to me is has a ole western feel to it. I bet you could make it look good in an old sepia toned look. The kind that has a gritty feel to it.
