Sunset Pier

So I took this one about a year ago in california. I got really lucky because I had a crappy camera and no tripod. Plus no filters and no PS straight from the camera to you. I had to take like 20 shots to get one that wasn't blurry. Just wondering what you guys think? Look at the larger version to get the full effect.

I think the colors and sky are lovely. I like the lights on the sillouetted pier that reflect into the water. But there is a little too much dark beach which doesn't add to the shot and the horizon needs straightened.

I like the shot. The colors are great, but maybe if you waited a few seconds to let the person get out of the frame and crop out some of the dark beach it would ROCK!

I like the man in the shot. it's like I am taking a picture of a guy taking a picture. Looks more like something you would see on the beach.

That still seems to be a bit too much dark beach for me. Could you crop it a bit more?

the 2nd version with a straighter horizon looks better, but there's still too much emptiness at the bottom of the frame. i'd suggest cropping out almost all of the black so there is just a sliver at the bottom.

It isn't empty space. If you view the larger version you can see lines in the sand. There is a bag also. I personally think it adds to the frame. It's more like what you would see if you went to see a sunset on a beach don't you think? I definitely need to go back to this exact same location when I get me DSLR camera with a tripod so I can get this image with a high quality ccd. This picture i believe was with a 3.5 MP camera.
