interesting blur effect, but i think it's a shame the subject is dead center in the frame. also, the leaf on the right blocks part of the bird. i actually wouldn't have realized it was a bird at first until you pointed it out. the subject's so dark you can't see their eyes or a lot of detail.

yeah i was trying to make the best out of a bad pic...
never thought about lighting the bird up a bit. They made a nest in a hanging flower my wife had outside the house. I spent all day trying to get the mother not to freak out and fly at me while I was taking the pic. This was taken about 4 feet from the nest at eye level.

You have one of those photos which may have as many possibilities as there are photo editors. It's at a good stage (not too dark or light) for experimenting, lots of promise for becoming very good.

Were you thinking "must be Heaven" with the soft blur?

the blur came about mostly because of the shot. Alot of stuff going on around it with the plants and really not alot of subject. I was thinking about the mother bird and protecting its eggs and just decided an angel/dreamlike like blur would look good against the dark feathers of the birds head. I tried blurring it darker and it looked so wrong. Might be a good one for the "what would yuo do" post processing thread.
