Default The grassy knoll

So I was looking around my backyard last night in desperation because I was planing to go up the canyon when my family bailed on me. So I was just looking for stuff to snap. Wasn't sure if I had the right angle or the grass was cropping the image right. Suggestions? PS if you couldn't tell it is two sort of deformed mushrooms one in front of the other.

Hi,
I think you saw some great subjects. The soft blades of grass tend to distract my eye rather than lend to cropping the subjects. It may have been better to pull the grass away from the front of the mushrooms so we could better see and appreciate their structure and shape. I like the lighting. You are commended for trying a different viewpoint and seeing a picture where many would have walked right by. Good eye! Keep shooting.

thanks doc. I was wondering if I should have pulled the grass away. Might go out later today and try it again. I also want to try from a slightly different angle so you can see the back mushroom just a tincy wincy bit more. I will post em up later if I get around to doing it. Keep the comments coming. This is helping me out alot.

I definitely did better with this one. Not sure if the camera flare is too much, but I definitely like this one better.

I like the second one better. Still it would get rid of those two blades of grass in front. I would do some selective shadow / highlight adjustment if you have Photoshop CS2 or better in the 2nd image to make it pop a little more but, the angle is much better in the 2nd image. Good shot!

I tried some stuff and I got the colors to look alot more natural. I tried reducing highlights and lightening shadows, but it ruined the halo effect.

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to reshoot your original idea. Much better than the original. I like the flare. Also concur with those who said the other blades of grass should be removed. Nice work.

Don't be sorry. I love it when people do stuff with my pictures. Gives me ideas on what I can do with them myself.
