Default Falling Cards [Please Critique]

Who would have thought one could have so much fun with a cardboard box and some lamps.
Would love to know what you like or dislike about this shot, please don't hesitate to comment. Really want to know everything you have to say

ZirconiumZephyr,

Fun stuff, great idea to get controlled movement-shot. And to learn camera settings to get different results. Sort of grayish, but not disagreeable so.

I really like it. Great timeing to get the ace of spades almost full on. This i think would be a shot that you take hndreds and get a couple that look right. This one seems to have alot of space in the center not being used. Did you take alot of shots like that or just this one? I think maybe another card falling with its back to the camera might have evened it out a bit.

You must have had lots of fun getting this shot. Especially when the cards would be hit or miss when falling. Nice work.

hmm.. i think that Ace is abit out of place. the 2 cards above is act falling but the ace seems to be static , like you 've stick it onto sth. Prehaps some movemnt fr it will look better . just my 2 cents

anyway it's a great shot.

I tend to agree with YSV... although it would make a great poster for something, with the details of the event placed on the ace of spades!

aah yes, i do see what you mean about the empty space, I must've taken about 100 frames and this was the only one I thought was ok. I was trying to depict speed/movement through the contrast between the cards.

I had to do something similar recently for a poster at work, but after several attempts I gave up and just combined a couple of my images in Photoshop to get enough into the shot. Well done

Replace the spade in the center of the ace with a mugshot of yourself and use it as your avatar. Nice picture!
