Default Gothic Girl

Here's a shot I took really quickly. I swear she was walking at a 20mph pace. It almost has a panning effect( I shot it really fast) & it does have motion blur(Bicyclist, kids playing, & her dress). I can't put my finger on why I like it so much. Something about it seems kind of eerie, to me anyways. What do you guys think? I use Nikon's Capture NX for post-production so I don't have the ability to do layering. I can do almost anything else. I have done a little PP. I sharpened her up a little & boosted the color a tad bit. Feel free to download & do your own PPing.

Digidave,

Before I could think it onto the keyboard, I was urging you to crop it right and bottom, like retro-telepathy. Brings the eerie forward a bit, makes the movement larger (more emphatic). Lucky you were stalking -er, walking in that park. Think she's talking to the dead?

I like the circumstance that everything is colorful, save for the main subject.

Yea, I think you're on to something there. Also, it's almost as if her upper half is still & everything around her is moving. Kind of surreal looking.

The cropping is a good idea. I have to go off to work & will give it a shot later. I was in the park to see a concert. No stalking involved, I swear!

I wish you had used a larger apeture. The foreground and background do absolutely nothing for this photo. I also agree on a tighter crop.

I like the shot. My eye is definitely drawn to the girl. She has a certain sense of urgency. If anything I'd agree with the previous poster who said to give her a bit more lead room. (crop the right)

Digidave,

Wonderful shot. It's almost as if she were stuck in time while time went on around her.

That's what I was thinking! I couldn't put my finger on it exactly, but yes, that's it in a nutshell. Not so much that she's in her own little world but, It's like she's isolated from the rest of the world. Good call there Mikem!

pinball: I like what you did there. Good job!

I like the contrast between her world and the colourful "picket fence" type world around her.
