Talking My First Macro Pollen Flower Shots

This was my first attempt at taking an Macro of pollen on a flowers bud. Does anyone know what type of flowers these are? I took these with the 18-55MM Cannon Kit Lens.

They must be pretty big flowers especially for the first one? though I've not used my 18-55mm canon lens for aaages so I've forgotten how close it can get! :S

Are they cropped down to give the super-close-up effect?

I was doing some experiments today and determined that my Raynox DCR-250 adapter only lets me go up to about 1:2 at the 55mm end of the kit lens on my D40 (photographing a ruler and comparing that to the sensor size - I think someone here mentioned the idea).

However, that still seems quite close and cropping makes things look much closer.

BTW - your images have come out beautifully sharp!

Nope no cropping at all I used a close up lens attachment on the front.

AHHHHHHHH The secret is out!

It's a cheepie one cost me like 20 bucks. I was about 1/2 an inch away on the 1st image and maybe 1 1/2 inches in the second image. They were some pretty huge flowers as well.

It'd be cheaper still to just reverse the lens!

How do I reverse the lens on my digital camera? It will not work unless there is a lens attached.

Mine was 20 becuase it also has a wide angle converter on it as well that can be removed to just expose the close up lens.

works for me!
You just turn the lens around and hold it I can't afford extra equipment so I improvise.
All my photos we're reverse lens until I got my macro lens!
