I like the idea, and the sky really adds to the photo, but I think ships must be hard to photograph -- awfully large.
I think most of the really great photos of commercial ships I have seen tend to make use of perspective -- on the wharf looking up at the bow, or maybe somewhere high looking down I wonder if you got a chance to shoot this over again if you could get either the bow or the stern of the American Century in, and maybe instead of shooting across her, shoot from one end or another -- might help clarify the elements of the picture. Of course this might also prevent you from capturing the sky, which was probably what drew you to make the photo. When I am thinking about photographing something new and a bit out of the ordinary, I often do a Flickr search to see how people more talented than me have approached it. EL |
