Default Duck & Swan

Took these pictures on my lunch break today, near a lake in Blakelands, Milton Keynes, UK. Camera is a Sony Cybershot T3 5mp. Quite enjoyed taking these, and will post some of the others when i have had a better chance to review them. The light was changing constantly due to weather.

As i am very new to this i eagerly await your comments and feedback.
This image has been cropped an levels adjusted in MS Digital Image Pro.

This Swan was very unsure of my presence at first, and i nearly got a closer picture than i wanted . Would of liked to get a bit closer but didn't fancy getting wet. Image has had levels adjusted but no cropping. I love the fact i caught the ripples in the water from where the beak was just dipped in and the Swan is looking down.

Thank You

RB

rb_1306td, Welcome

As colorful and well-shot as the first photo is, the swan is the gem. I could nitpick, but I don't want to. You're right about the ripples, they're a valuable small detail.

Hi jiminyClickit, thank you for your comments. I love both the pictures but agree with your choice. I did not want to crop the Swan picture as i thought it would remove the effect of the ripples. Can i ask what were your suggestions for the Swan?

Thank You

RB

rb_1306td,

Having enjoyed it critique-free for a few minutes, I could point out that the original could stand, as is, after a smidge of work on the swan's back. I can't see that it's "blown," I believe white is just so white that it leaves almost no variance in feather pattern visible. It could be delicately "enhanced."

If I could not retake and include more of the edge at bottom, I'd think about losing some of the top and right, if you want to keep the landscape aspect, or a square if you want a little difference, losing the right side.

Basically, some things to consider next time, and well-done on this one.

Lovely shots - love the swan - it's amazing when you can capture a 'mood' with birds - well done

demonsmercy, the ducks are sooo cute!
As for the picture of the swan, maybe you might want to crop away the sides of the photo.
