i really like the image even though it breaks the rule of thirds. just goes to show some rules are meant to be broken

Thanks for all the comments, I thought about changing how dark it is, but kept it the way it is to keep the contrast between the men and the reflection of the sunset on the water. It originally was in color, this is the B&W conversion.
I think I'll try to adjust the lightness of it and see how it turns out. |

i think what makes it look so dark is that first layer of background. its pretty much silluetted. i "opened" up the shadows in photoshop, so there is some data there to lighten it up. i would try to just lighten up that first layer of "hills"

I like it just the way it is. It really looks better in the large size on the flickr site. The background layer points to the fishermen which makes the rule of thirds exception work. The forground emphasizes the loneliness of the "trade". I like it.
