Default Grassy Sign...

I really liked all the colors in the shot, that's the reason I snapped it!

Fureddo, Welcome

Maybe it's the title, or the majority of view being a b/w flat sign, or the dead grass, not really getting it . . . however, it's fairly sharp, cropped interestingly, and you like it.

I thought the composition was striking, and liked the yellow in the sign, but I am kind of with the previous poster re the downer effect of the brown grass.

Would you mind if I took a shot at greening up the grass a bit and posted the result here?

I'm not feeling the whole picture, but I like the yellow sign. I think it could make an interesting abstract type shot if you shoot it alone emphasizing the color, lines and graffiti. Sometimes just looking at something in a different way can yield an interesting image.

Fureddo,

I never ever would want anyone to like their photo less because of a comment they see here. All my words eventually are intended to point the photographer in a direction that may help in their particular situation and the photo on display. So if you really like this one, enjoy it no matter what. And maybe the next one, you will enjoy even more! Enjoy the sport!

Here's a quick effort.

As far as making it green, no doubt there are easier/better ways to do it, but I made the green by creating a new layer, filling it with what I thought was a grassy green colour, then masking out the signs so they didn't get greened. I think I blended down on colour mode. You could use less opacity to tone it down a bit.

I also added a bit of a vignette and did a bit of unsharp mask and contrast, to sort of go along with the new green effect.

grassy sign post

Might help a bit with the dead grass effect (though may create a new "overly-alive grass effect!")

EL

PS -- just previewed and I think the green spot on the white sign is me doing a bad job on the masking.

For sure, I just wanted to see what other people thought. I've only been shooting a while so it's good to get some constructive criticism. It all helps me become a better photographer! I appreciate all the comments, thank you

Elay, I like what you've done. Your version is definitely more alive than mine. I'm still getting to grips with PS, none of the things you did would have occured to me, thanks!
