Default Eagle

This was taken today at the zoo, through a mesh enclosure. Cropped a bit to offset him.

Look at the size of that beak! There is nothing more visceral than forward facing eyes and a beak designed to tear through bone and sinew...

Nice job of shooting through the mesh. Can you give us an idea of your camera settings such as f/stop and distance from the bars as well as focal length of the lens used for the shot? I understand your reason for cropping but I wpould have liked to have seen a little more of the bird and less of the brush. Excellent sharpness for shooting through the mesh.

Shot with a Sigma 70-300, on a Canon XTi

Focal length- 190 mm
ISO 100
Aperture-f/5.0
Exposure- 1/60

I was standing about 10 feet? away....

Looking at it now, I can see the mesh....ugh...

Thanks for providing those additional details. I tried to link to a larger version as I cannot see the mesh in the smaller version but the link says I do not have permission to view the image.

The mesh is very subtle - if I am identifying it correctly, look for the wide horizontal bands just above the eagle's head and below its beak. They look slightly overexposed compared to the rest of the picture.
