Default Bee on flower

Purple1

What do you think...tighter crop? I like the DOF in this one, and the other one I posted as my favorite for the first half of the year.
New camera, and new lens. Can't wait to see what comes of the pair!!

Welcome to the forums, now.... what new camera, and what new lens?

As far as the picture goes, a crop might focus more attention on the bee. You could always crop it to a more unusual aspect ratio and just focus on a long and skinny shot of the bee on the flower. Just a thought that's the fun thing about digital, you can try out something without ruining the file

amethystdragon,

Nicole has put a picture in my imagination: a slight left rotation, a long vertical crop of bloom so bee is below middle point, and stalk runs diagonal top left to bottom right. Would make the bee a star.

New camera is an XTi, new lens..Sigma APO DG 70-300...Which I LOVE!!!

I thought about the bee and the rule of thirds. I think I accomplished that with the stalk of flowers, but you're right...the bee should have been higher, or lower.
Thanks guy's/ladies!!!

An Xti and a Sigma APO DG 70-300? Very nice way to start out. The Sigma was one of the first pieces of glass I bought, so versatile! Budget Lenses (under $200.00 US)

BTW, I agree with the above. A little careful cropping can make a huge difference. Oh, and welcome!

I like this picture as it stands. Although I cannot speak to the technical accuracy, the picture seems to have good balance, excellent detail and nice color. Thanx for sharing.
