kunaldaswani,

You never know what memory a photo will trigger: I'm reminded of the "Pieta" sculpture in Italy with the wonderful triangle composition. Sorry I do not remember what edit program you use, but almost anything could remove or certainly de-emphasize that background. What a stunner you will have then!

Why not submit this to the "What You Would Do" thread?

You did a great job of capturing the action at or near its peak to minimize motion. I agree with jiminyClicket's comments on the background as it is a bit distracting. Try using a cloning tool to blend the figures into the background as wellas to lessen the intensity of the spotlights/reflections a bit. My eye wants to travel past the dancers to the bright light. Nice job! Thanks for sharing your work with us.

kunaldaswani,

Do not give up on this one. Take your time, remove the background, blend dancers' edges carefully. Give them a low shadow. Add a gradient mask using colors of your choice for the new background, a little frame.

How about if you select the dancers and then distort the background a bit. Here's my attempt..

salsa

I took the light out quite crudely but if you spent some time on it, it could look ok. The only problem for me is that I like the shiney floor, which I lost with my method.

Becky Pimlico,

Got any shiny floor photos you could slip in behind them?

Beautiful dance shot! Use a smaller F-stop next time to blur out the background. You can do it to this image by selecting and blurring the background.

I took the liberty of making a rough adjustment to your image (hope you don't mind). I used the Quick Mask in Photoshop the select the background, roughly Rubber Stamped out the people , Gausian Blurred at about 2 and put a tiny amount of Grain all over to blend it together. Sorry about the slight halo - the resolution is a bit low to make a really tight selection.

Jiminy: I like your edit - great for Poster use - you could easily drop some copy into the top for their next show!
